Alternate Transport

Contractors caught by the unexpected ferry breakdown scrambled to get their equipment off and onto the island. Here the Pintail loads an excavator. Privately arranged, it continued ferrying vehicles (at $75 per vehicle) to and from Wyman's Marina in Anacortes for quite some time Friday afternoon.

First the Island Express and later the Strait Arrow ferried passengers, an experience all too familiar to islanders lately.
