Garbage Service During Ferry Haul Out

This is in response to the garbage that is being left outside the fence in the new parking lot. Even though there have been some inconveniences in regards to ferry service during the shutdown, I think the county has been more than helpful in regards to the garbage issue by providing the island with two large dumpsters. We should all be responsible and thoughtful of our neighbors, especially in light of our recent rat problem, and only bring our garbage down to drop off when the county attendant is on duty.

Thank you.

SCPW adds this: "Garbage drop boxes will be provided at the temporary parking lot. The garbage boxes will be open beginning Tuesday, September 13th and will be open every Tuesday through Saturday from 2 PM through 6 PM until the vehicle ferry comes back into service in October. There will be an attendant present during the stated hours of operation. This service is for household garbage only and not construction or other large objects such as furniture, appliances, and the like." [Service is available to everyone, subscriber to RSS or not.]

The ferry to Guemes Island will not be running, for the next month, starting Sunday, September 11. In order to serve our customers, a roll off box will be delivered on the morning of Sept 9 (Friday). The box will be located by the ferry landing.

We'll be going over on a barge to switch out the box on September 19th, 26th and October 3.

The roll off is for garbage only. If customers recycle, they will need to store up the recycle until the ferry is running again.

Thanks for your attention to this.
