GIPOA Clarifies Role

The Skagit County information concerning extending the Guemes ferry hours posted on Linetime.org on May 18, 2006 included a copy of the draft resolution to extend the ferry hours along with various information apparently developed by county staff. Included is a
document called 'Revenue Calculations (By GIPOA)'. This document was in no way created by GIPOA (Guemes Island Property Owners Association) nor was GIPOA aware of the information contained in the document.

GIPOA surveyed persons with ties to Guemes Island in order to determine their views on the Guemes Ferry and their reactions to extending the ferry hours. GIPOA approached the ferry survey with complete objectivity and reported information from those surveyed without embellishment.

The responses to question 6a. of the survey were as follows:

a. Daily 29

b. Once or twice a week 114

c. Once or twice a month 148

d. Other (explain) 90

GIPOA disseminated this information, along with the rest of the survey results, widely as tabulated and made no attempt to arrive at revenue calculations or other conclusions from the reported data! Additionally, GIPOA made no suggestions concerning information contained in the survey.
