County Board of Commissioners Dear Commissioners: We wish to endorse the findings of the Guemes Island Schedule & Fare Policy Analysis Task Force. We urge you to adopt the Task Force recommendations that are before you today. It seems that no one is completely satisfied with the Task Force recommendations and that is typical of agreements, in this case hammered out over countless meetings and resulting in numerous compromises by your Staff, our Ferry Committee, the Ferry Crew representatives and Berk & Associates. We believe in the process and further believe that it’s time to seal the bargain and go to work cooperatively to make the Guemes Ferry service an efficient and effective link in our local transportation system. We are certain that there will be changes as time tests the various aspects of the Task Force findings and as actual operating costs become known. However, we are also certain that any changes will be cooperatively worked out through the Roundtable process with the Guemes Island Ferry Committee formally representing the interests of the residents of Guemes Island.
